1999 R34 NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R V-SPEC – Celebrated auction platform Cars & Bids is proud to present a strikingly rare offering in a legendary 1999 R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec. With an exceptionally limited production run of only 282 V-Spec models finished in the highly sought-after Midnight Purple II color scheme, this is amongst the rarest vehicles to be offered on Cars & Bids since its launch. This vehicle is registered in Washington under the “Show and Display” exemption which allows for up to 2,500 miles of drive time per year. Due to the scarcity of the vehicle, it was granted a special, yet limited, exemption from the 25 year import law which has famously irritated import enthusiasts for the last quarter of a century. However, that law is on the cusp of expiration for this particular GT-R in 2024 which will allow its next owner to drive it without restriction.
Doug DeMuro comments, “Simply put, this is one of the most exciting and impressive cars we’ve ever offered on Cars & Bids.” He continues, “This particular example is very special, as it’s finished in the most desirable color – Midnight Purple II – and it’s offered with a U.S. “Show or Display” title, meaning it can be legally driven here in the States. This R34 GT-R is also a V-Spec model, so it touts some upgrades over the standard version – including a firmer suspension and a carbon fiber rear diffuser, among other items.”
This 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec is in absolute pristine condition with an odometer that reads 153,600 kilometers equating to about 95,400 miles. Modifications made to the vehicle are extremely minimal, making it increasingly more desirable by collectors as Skyline owners were commonly known to heavily customize their cars. The only modifications include a Pioneer Carrozzeria head unit, M-Spec steering wheel, and an aftermarket rear-view mirror. OEM equipment includes 18-inch six-spoke wheels, Brembo brake calipers, Super HICAS rear-wheel steering, Xenon headlights, rear spoiler, and a carbon fiber rear diffuser. Under the hood the GT-R is equipped with an RB26DETT 2.6 liter twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder engine which outputs 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque to its four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The interior is outfitted with black and gray textured upholstery with Alcantara inserts, manually-adjustable front sport bucket seats, center digital screen with real-time information display gauges, and automatic climate control.
DeMuro points out, “Like all R34 GT-Rs, this is also equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission – and it features some great factory equipment like Brembo brake calipers and Super HICAS rear-wheel steering. This Skyline is also mostly unmodified, with an updated head unit, an M-Spec steering wheel, and an aftermarket rearview mirror being the only changes from stock. This is an amazing car, and I’m sure it will provide plenty of thrills for the next owner!”
